Welcome to our own little B&B – Barriers and Borders!

We’re Forum and Shiva! Barriers and Borders is born out of our constant inquisitiveness and endless desire to experience, live and learn from every remote corner of our marvelous planet. B&B is not only limited to our curiosity and love for travel but also intends to break the obstacles and demarcations that we as a society have built around ourselves over generations.

Interestingly, all of these boundaries are imaginary and self-inflected. Each of us have the ability to step out of this comfort zone and break these barriers and borders. For the two of us, this act of stepping out began in the form of traveling. Since we are from different cities and states in India, traveling to meet each other was our only way to connect occasionally. Over time, traveling has grown into a tradition: a mutual way of life.

Us both being architects and vegans, we share a lot in common. To begin with, we love to move slowly in time and space, hover around for longer, until we also start to smell like the local flavor. This may be a side effect of having an architect’s eye, which in fact is a curse as it catches everything in its sight, from the color of a brick to the slope of a roof. Secondly, as vegans we never consider a trip to be complete until we taste local plant-based food. And it takes some digging to find the right cafe that serves it. Above all, we consider meeting new people and having meaningful conversations as the best reward of travel.

Witnessing new marvels of nature is how we like to “pause” time. It’s in these little lapses of our existence that we truly feel alive. All we hope is that our blog let’s you phase out into that PAUSE that we all deserve…
